Allbird, the shoe with a lower carbon footprint
According to the San Fransisco based shoe-company Allbirds, the average sneaker emits 12.5 kg CO2e while their carbon footprint is 7.1 kg CO2e. Their goal is to reduce all their carbon emissions and become climate neutral. The shoe company started in 2016 and quickly become an international best seller. One million pair of shoes sold already in 2018. Maybe the success has to do, not only with the comfortability of the shoe, but also with the serious effort the company is doing using environmental friendly materials such as wool, trees and sugar canes produced in a low-environmental impact manner. Recently they launched the material Trino which is a mix of materials with the aim to last longer and provide comfort.
