Tell us about yourself?

I’m Elisa, 22 years old and I’m a slow fashion photographer from Belgium that is in love with Sweden! On my Instagram and blog I share photo series of myself and of models with slow fashion outfits. I also share slow fashion hotspots and brands.

What’s your relationship with clothes?

I’d say that I’m not a minimalist and I think that I’ll never be. But when I consume, 90% of the time it is second hand. The other 10% is fair fashion.

How would you describe your style?

I’d say colorful and often green, elegant and comfortable. The comfy part is so important for me, I mostly wear natural materials.

Any favourite items?

I recently bought second hand woolen pant from Filippa K and I have been wearing them almost every day!

How would you describe your closet?

A mix of different styles. A lot of colorful retro and vintage pieces, but also timeless pieces like navy blue turtlenecks. I also really like hairbands.

Where do you find inspiration?

I’m a very visual person. Photographies in museums and on Instagram really inspire me. Also discovering a new city, like Copenhagen last weekend.

Do you have a style icon, if yes, who?

Not really! My style also changes quite often. Now that I’m studying at a Business School my style becomes more timeless, so I'm proof that your environment influences your style! When studying Communication Sciences before this, I was more like the colorful hippie of the class, which I still am sometimes.

What is a sustainable closet for you?

I think that it’s about how much you wear your items, so the cost per wear. This is however something that I only realized quite recently. I thought that if it’s second hand or vintage, it’s always okay. But if you then don’t wear it, it’s not part of a sustainable mindset.

What do you think about the fashion industry in general?

I think that there is a fundamental problem with the way that we have gotten used to poor quality. Also most of the clothes that you buy at fast fashion stores are made from fossil fuels, like polyester, elastan, nylon etc. These materials make you sweat! And the modern slavery in fast fashion is heartbreaking.

What can one do that seeks to create a more sustainable closet?

Invest only in the pieces that you’ll wear very often. Think about the materials of the clothes and the style. If wool is itchy for you, don’t buy it! For more special occasions: try renting or check the closets of your family members and friends.
