Sustainable Swimwear - how to take care of them and store them before the season ends

The summer season in Europe and America is about to end soon, but we might have a few days more in our swimwear. We hope you have treated them with care this summer. The longevity of our garments is all about proper care. Therefore we would like to give you a few reminders but also what to think about when the season ends.

Swimwear is often exposed to sunscreen, body oils, pool chemicals and salt. These substances will take a toll on the materials. To make sure your swimwear last do the following steps:

  1. Make sure you rinse it after use. Preferably in cold water by hand. If you have time, let it soak for 30 minutes and rinse it again.

  2. Once in a while use shampoo. Either when washing by hand before rinsing it again or if you want to wash in the machine, it should be hand-wash settings and preferably in a washing bag.

  3. Dry in the air but not in the sun. No need to use the dryer, it can even be harmful to our swimwear. When air-drying your bikini makes sure it is not directly exposed to the sun.

  4. Store in a bag. When storing your swimwear, make sure it is not hanged, since it is not good for the stretch and make sure it is in a place and bag where the material can breathe. If you put your swimwear in a plastic bag, bacteria can develop, so don’t do that!

Keep your swimwear safe and ready for the next season. Or maybe you will use them for some wild winter swimming?
