We love second hand but often when we talk to other second hand consumers they sometimes struggle with the basics, such as underwear or T-shirts that has the right shape and form without prints. The founder of Please Don’t Leave Me, Paul Botwid felt the same, he also knew that second hand is the best alternative from an environmental perspective but he thought that there must be a better way to produce new T-shirts that meet the consumer demands and have less impact on the planet.

The solution came in Spain, with Recover, a textile recycle station, and Ferre Yarns, a garment producer. Through this process it was possible to make new T-shirts from old textiles. To recycle textiles instead of producing new cotton has a lower environmental and climate impact, especially in this case since the factory is using a process where water is not used and the chemical usage is at its minimum. The cotton fibre is mixed with recycled polyester from PET-bottles creating a fabric which is sent to a garment factory in Portugal where the T-shirts are produced.

Today the brand Please Don’t Leave Me has a white and a black T-shirt but Paul hopes that there soon will be more colours and strongly believe that there is a need to produce new products but they must be produced in a much better way.

You can find the T-shirts here!
