We know that textiles is one of the most polluting industries. To move towards a circular and sustainable business model is essential.

A new research is now under way, starting this year in 2021 to investigate what global and local value chains look like when it comes to creating and recovering value for second-hand clothes.

This research is funded by Kamprad Family Foundation with SEK 3,400,000 in collaboration with Linköping University and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency. It also includes strategic partners such as Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi).

Another stakeholder is the University of Borås. Where there is a significant knowledge on circular clothing through research and education in textile management.

The research included a PhD position and hopes to scale-up solutions that can mitigate challenges such as to low recycling of textiles, low reuse of textiles and low value of recycling textiles.

A Sustainable Closet is very much looking forward to the results and implementation based on the findings.
