Why we love them: An honest and beyond cool street brand with every single product being hand made by the founder herself in The Netherlands. We love that everything is made from repurposed and upcycled materials, something that we’re hoping many brands will start doing as well. Saint Muze is growing rapidly and we couldn’t be more happy for Sam and her brand, we’re totally rooting for you! You go girl!

What is Saint Muze and why did you start?

Saint Muze is a sustainable streetwear brand who is focussing on up cycling of vintage clothes and headstock fabrics. I started Saint Muze because I was against childlabour in the fast fashion industry and wanted to give people an opportunity to buy streetwear which was not produced by children.

What is your sustainability profile?

I’m recycling and upcycling vintage clothes and deadstock fabrics and turning them into cool new streetwear items.

How and where are the products produced, where do you source the material from?

I make all the products myself at my room in Amsterdam. The materials I use for Saint Muze are coming from everywhere. From local shops to buying bulk vintage overseas.

Your best selling product?

The puffer bags!

Where do you find inspiration?

It comes from the daily world around me. I always watch everybody’s outfits to see if I can find good new colour matches or texture mixes, but I also look for something that I’m missing in the fashion world.

What have been and are the major challenges?

The production of the items. Saint is growing and growing which also means the demand is going up (of course that’s my dream!) but  it’s all me in the business, so sometimes it’s a bit too much for me alone, but luckily my family and friends are helping out. Another challenge is the battle with fast fashion. Fast fashion is really cheap and therefore really attractive for many, but at Saint Muze everything is handmade and I really want the products to be of really good quality, so the price is higher than items of fast fashion and a lot of people can learn from that I think.

What has been and the largest gain?

I think that I can inspire a lot of people with the items I make for Saint Muze. Showing them what you can do with second hand clothes can sometimes really open people’s  eyes.

What do you think needs to change in the fashion industry to make it more sustainable?

I think what needs to change in the fashion industry is buying less and thinking a few times before purchasing an item.

What would you advise consumers to do who seek to create a sustainable closet and lifestyle?

Think twice before you purchase a new item or invest in items which are of really good quality, so you don’t have to buy a new one after a few months.

Best thing about Saint Muze?

All the items are 1off1, made by hand and made out of clothes/fabrics which ain’t usable or wearable for most of the people.

What's up next?

Launching the first big drop of reworked bags on the site next month!
