Hi Studio Conchita, what is the story behind Studio Conchita, why did you start it?

Studio Conchita started because I, Renata the founder, grew up in a creative world, her first approach to glass was thanks to her father who worked with clay, wrought iron and blown glass in his hometown Guadalajara. On her path, she was looking for a voice, a creative voice so she started working with glass, a material that was really close to her. That was the beginning, and then she felt curious about other materials such as silver, gold and precious stones, as well as their processes and materialities.

Can you tell us more about your design, who you design for and where you get inspiration?

I’m inspired by everything that happens in my day-to-day life. Mexico is a country with many colours, a lot of energy and a lot of culture, it is always inspiring to walk, open your eyes and observe that there is a lot of beauty around us.

Who is your typical customer?

The truth is that I have had many surprises! I have always believed that the Conchita woman is a magical, powerful and feminine woman. But more and more people connect with my pieces and give them a new meaning. So now I can say that Studio Conchita is for all people who like unique, handmade pieces with a lot of magic!

How is your jewellery produced and what is your work on sustainability?

My jewellery is produced in small workshops, I have always collaborated with artisans, we are like a small family. We use recycled silver and gold; and glass, being a natural raw material, can be recycled as many times as necessary.

Any advice for people seeking to start their own jewellery brands?

Believe in your process, and in your pieces, each one represents a part of you. Be patient, in order to create magic pieces or amulets.

What do you think is needed to make the fashion industry more sustainable?

Create a circular economy, produce local and consume local!

What's happening next or anything else you want to tell us?

I'm currently working on my fine jewelry collection! Coming soon!
