Hey Ingrid, welcome to A Sustainable Closet! We are so curious to know how you came up with the concept and idea for the brand, what's the story?
Hey and thank you for having us. So, basically what we were looking for is to make small habits easier and a bit more planet friendly. Applying perfume is something most of us are doing daily, so why not make it more convenient and better for the planet and ourselves? It’s a win-win!
How and where are the products produced, where do you source the scent ingredients from?
Right now we produce our perfume in a small, but well-established factory in Taiwan. They source the ingredients locally. Product development, such as design and formulas are made in Sweden.
Which are the benefits of wearing and using solid perfumes?
Wax hydrates your skin and doesn't cause irritation. We use less water and zero alcohol in our production. Wax-based perfumes last longer since it doesn't evaporate like liquid perfumes. You will smell great, and do great for the planet. Super convenient and easy to bring with you. Easy application and the risk of spraying people around you with a perfume mist is none.
Where on the planet are your customers based?
All around the globe, but since we are based in Stockholm, most of our customers are Swedes. Although the Dutch and the Germans really seem to love the scents as well!
Where do you find inspiration?
We have seen other companies implement small changes that can have a big impact. For example, toothbrushes are made out of bamboo instead of traditional brushes made out of plastic. Great idea and something we see as inspiration from others.
What have been and are the major challenges of starting Ingrid and may we ask if this is your full-time job?
The major challenges have been the production and keeping stock. The demand is great and a lot of people want to try INGRID. However, since we don’t mass produce we often run out of stock. Both I and Olof are working with e-commerce full time.
What has been and is the largest gain?
Both I and Olof have been running e-commerce companies for over 10 years now. The idea with INGRID is to make not only a profitable company but also a movement when it comes to making the habits of our daily lives a bit more eco-friendly. It's amazing to see that our customers are really getting involved in this and want to be a part of the development of the perfume.
What do you think needs to change in the perfume industry to make it more sustainable?
Well, as we say at INGRID: Ditch the mist and go solid.
What's up next, do you have anything fun to share with our readers?
Next up is the release of our fully vegan formula and perfume case that we developed alongside our customers. We are very excited to finally show the final version to everyone! We would also like to take this moment to thank all of our customers for their valuable input during the many steps of product development. We created this together.
