What is the Green Carpet Fashion Award?

The Green Carpet Fashion Awards are back for another exciting year, and this year's event promises to be bigger and better than ever before! Founded in 2017 by Livia Firth, the awards aim to celebrate sustainability in the fashion industry by recognising designers who prioritise ethical and environmentally friendly practices.

The awards ceremony is held annually in Milan, Italy, and features some of the biggest names in fashion, film, and entertainment. The event has become a must-attend affair for celebrities who are passionate about sustainability and ethical fashion, with attendees including the likes of Emma Watson, Cate Blanchett, and Salma Hayek.

This year's event was hosted in Los Angeles on the 9th of March where the announcement of winners of several prizes such as the plastic innovation award. The climate champion and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio, presented Sônia Guajajara with the healer award. Brazil’s minister of Indigenous people was honoured for her work protecting and regenerating Earth’s ecosystems. The Rebel award was given to the plant-based designer Unless.

In addition to recognising designers for their sustainable practices, the Green Carpet Fashion Awards also honoured several celebrities who have made significant contributions to the sustainable fashion movement. These included actress and activist Jane Fonda, who was recognized for her lifetime achievement in sustainability, and model and entrepreneur Karlie Kloss, who was awarded the Social Media Changemaker Award for her work promoting sustainable fashion on social media previous years.

Overall, the Green Carpet Fashion Awards continue to be a powerful force for change in the fashion industry, inspiring designers and consumers alike to embrace sustainable and ethical fashion practices.
