Watch The Generation Rewear Documentary addressing textile waste

Generation Rewear is a documentary series by the British Fashion Council and Vanish UK that came out in 2021. Directed by Richard Bullock and produced by Hungry Man it addressed the waste problem related to the fashion industry. The increased number of clothing on the market, the excessive consumption but also the designers searching for alternatives to reduce waste and increase the value and longevity of garments. Research by Vanish reveals that over two-thirds (64%) of people surveyed admit to wearing an item of clothing just once, and half (50%) own an item they have never worn. The UK’s throwaway mindset is a behaviour that sees 350,000 tonnes of clothing sent to landfill every year.
