The Brands Using Orange Fiber Fabrics

Orange fibre has been one of those promising revolutionary fibres made from orange peels that is a huge food byproduct in countries like Italy. The fibre is made from cellulose from the leftovers that remain after the fruits are juiced. But the question remains, how widely used is the material?

H&M

The Swedish fast fashion giant H&M used Orange Fiber fabrics for its Conscious Exclusive Collection 2019. The focus was quality, innovation and attention to the environment working only with recycled and sustainable materials for the collection.

H&M claims this initiative was a tribute to the beauty of nature and in line with its commitment to greener fashion and attentiveness to sector innovations.

Salvatore Ferragamo

Presented on the 22nd of April 2017, on the occasion of the 47th Earth Day, the Italian fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo showed its first pieces made from the innovative Orange Fiber fabric. They were the first fashion house to employ this relatively new textile composition. The silky pieces were presented in high quality made of the Orange Fiber fabric, in precious prints by the Italian designer Mario Trimarchi and with the stylistic mark of the Salvatore Ferragamo Maison - sounds like an anthem to Mediterranean creativity!

E.Marinella

June 2019 gave life to the first sustainable ties, pocket squares and lady silk scarves from the Naepolitan tailoring brand E.Marinella. With enhancement of the brand’s heritage and the commitment to sustainability, the collaboration between E.Marinella and Orange Fiber was a tribute to the craftsmanship that made “Made in Italy” globally famous.

The question is, where are all the other brands? Orange Fiber might still be a topic on sourcing and product managers’ sticky notes and To Do-lists but isn’t it time to ditch the polyester and invest in innovative materials instead? The planet is craving for change, hey brands out there, take a look at Orange Fiber!
