Another certification for a sustainable product is here and what does it really mean? Patagonia is one of the brands raising a voice of the benefits of regenerative farming and why textile companies should choose fibres from those farms. Regenerative doesn’t have any exact definition rather it’s a concept that includes many parts such as good soil, microbiology, biodiversity and carbon storage. The advantage is therefor multifold compared to just focusing on one part of sustainable farming. The initiative Regenerative Organic Alliance, which Patagonia is a part of, has launched this certification. Their mission is to provide the highest standard for agriculture around the world.

When will we see it in stores? That will take some time. In 2019 the pilot program was launched and you can read the full list of the farms and companies participating here!

A Sustainable Closet is very happy about these news since the certification is easy to understand for consumers, the Alliance seems to be very transparent about information and it also seems to be based on what farmers themselves consider to be sustainable farming and not a top-down approach. Farming land is also in a desperate need to be in a better shape and this initiative can help with that process.
