How You Should Wash Your Jeans According to Levi's

Levi's CEO is lifting a finger to all jeans lovers: This is how you should wash your jeans.

Levi Strauss CEO Charles Bergh rejects the widespread belief that you should never wash your jeans. However, he points out that "real jeans lovers" would never throw their trousers into a washing machine, writes CNBC. Denim lovers often say washing your jeans will destroy their shape and colour, while keeping them unwashed will improve their appearance through creases and exposure to the elements. Not washing them will make them last longer, preventing the denim’s fibres from wearing down - which could lead to holes or rips.

If I’ve been out sweating or something and they get really disgusting, I wash them in the shower, he says. He also said that spot-cleaning your jeans is another winner. Let’s say you stain your jeans by dropping ketchup on them, just spot-clean them, again, don’t put them in the washing machine.

Bergh clarifies that you should wear your pants in the shower and wash them with soap as if they were part of your body. In addition to the fact that the jeans last longer, avoiding the washing machine is also an environmental benefit, he adds.
