Fashion Revolution Week 2025: Think Globally, Act Locally

Every April, millions of voices across the globe come together to ask one powerful question: Who made my clothes? Fashion Revolution Week is not just another awareness campaign, it’s a movement, a call for justice, and a blueprint for change in one of the world’s most exploitative industries.

But why does this week matter so much? And how can you, whether you're an individual, an NGO, or a brand, be a part of it?

Let’s dive in.

Why Fashion Revolution Week Was Created

Fashion Revolution Week was born in response to one of the fashion industry’s darkest days. On April 24, 2013, the Rana Plaza factory in Bangladesh collapsed, killing over 1,100 garment workers and injuring thousands more. These workers were producing clothes for some of the world’s biggest fashion brands — often for extremely low wages and in unsafe conditions.

Since that tragedy, Fashion Revolution, a UK-founded global non-profit, has worked tirelessly to push for a cleaner, safer, fairer, and more transparent fashion industry. Fashion Revolution Week marks the anniversary of the collapse and is now the world’s largest fashion activism campaign.

What’s Happening in 2025?

This year’s theme is: "Think Globally, Act Locally: Empowering Citizens to Engage Local Policymakers"

With a growing network of 80+ country teams, Fashion Revolution is rallying communities around the world to look at how global fashion injustices manifest locally — and to push for real, legislative change.

Expect:

  • Events, talks, and exhibitions hosted worldwide

  • Global and local campaigns highlighting labor rights, environmental justice, and circular fashion

  • Educational content and calls-to-action on social media

  • An international day of remembrance for Rana Plaza on April 24

It’s about more than raising awareness. It’s about changing the rules that allow brands to profit from exploitation and pollution.

How You Can Get Involved

Whether you're a citizen, NGO, or brand, there are many ways to take part, and your voice matters.

  • Use your platform: Share the official messages, join local events, and amplify voices from the Global South.

  • Join a country team: Volunteer or collaborate with your local Fashion Revolution chapter.

  • Remember Rana Plaza: On April 24, take a moment to post a message of remembrance using official templates.

For Brands and Businesses

  • Be transparent: Publicly share information about your suppliers, wages, and environmental practices.

  • Support policy change: Endorse regulations that protect workers and hold brands accountable.

  • Join conversations — not to sell, but to support: FRW is not a marketing opportunity. It's about being part of the solution.

  • Feature your workers (with consent): Use your platform to share real stories, not just products.

Reminder: FRW content cannot be used to promote or sell items using the Fashion Revolution logo.

Why This Week Matters More Than Ever

Twelve years after Rana Plaza, we’re at another crossroads. The fashion industry is still tied to fossil fuels, still underpays garment workers, and still lacks transparency. But we also have more tools, more allies, and more momentum than ever before. We are stronger together.

Let’s use Fashion Revolution Week 2025 not just to talk about change, but to demand it, at every level, from the shopping cart to parliament halls.
