What The Crown Princess of Sweden had to say about sustainability at her opening speech at Stockholm Fashion Week

Stockholm Fashion Week was launched this week and for the first time it was digital. Victoria,  Crown Princess of Sweden, opened the Fashion Week with a speech definitely worth listen too.

In her majesty’s speech she mentions that the UN Sustainable Development Goals is soon running out and she’s concern as an alumni ambassador. She later says that she thinks that the industry would agree that high quality fashion, does a lot more than pleases the eye; it challenges new standards and creates new possibilities. She continues with that it’s not only the design of clothes that needs to be innovative, but also how they’re being sold, distributed, worn and eventually recycled.

A Sustainable Closet is very positive that The Crown Princess choose to talk about sustainability and how Sweden’s fashion scene can be a role mode. Of course it’s not a part of her job to adress the problems, neither the solutions. even if one could wish an opening speech to be even more direct. Preferably, that we have to do better and that design needs to come from a circular perspective, which means, using materials that has already been produced.

Stockholm Fashion Week had several events with the theme of sustainability, if it was enough or if more could have been told, we leave the up to you to comment on!
