Consciously produced clothes for children

It is never more evident how important it is with sustainable fashion as when you have kids. Not only do you want to stop supporting an industry destroying their future but you also want to make sure the clothes your children wear do not harm their bodies. Since children grow fast, it is also essential to find sustainable solutions for you wallet and your time. It is easy to follow into the overconsumption trap. We have listed a few brands that cares about creating safe children’s wear to make it easier for you to make a better choice. However, we can’t emphasise enough how second hand first hand is truly the most sustainable choice. When it comes to second hand, there are many good methods such as:

  • Take over the clothes from children’s in your family and community

  • Exchange clothes on clothing-exchange events for children

  • Buy second hand in stores offline and online and from other social groups

  • Rent clothes and other necessities at plattform such as Hyper

But sometimes, there might be a certain item we need and for the conscious consumer, this is what we would recommend:

Laiska Ebba

This wonderful Finish brand produced all their clothes at site by their own factories. They mostly use deadstock materials but also ecological certified (free of chemical) and reused existing materials for minimum waste. You can find t-shirts, pants, leggings and so on. Laiska Ebba have a small collection of beautiful items meant to last. Read our interview with this brand here!

Mini Rodini

Chemicals are avoided, controlled and regularity tested (on the clothes but also as a part of the factory-audits). Mini Rodini has worked actively with living wages in the factories they use and in 2021 the goal was to make sure all clothes are produced during those standards. Further, they have an extensive sustainability report where you can read more about their efforts. Here you can basically find any item your children might need, underwear, accessories and outdoor clothes. They have it all.
