FROM SILK TO VEGAN - A BRAND THAT CHANGED
Slow fashion, with a few collections, time-less design and high quality materials has always been the foundation of the fashion brand Mayla, since it started, according to it’s founder Marlene Abraham. But as the years passed by and Marlene got to know more and more about the sustainability challenges in the fashion industry, she committed to make the brand as sustainable as possible. This meant, for example, that she stopped using silk and instead chose other materials made out of organic certified cellulosa fibres. After learning more about the explosion of animals and the high impact animal products have on the climate, she also decided to make the brand 100% vegan approved by the largest animal rights organisation in this world, PETA. Mayla is a great example of how a fashion brand can change but what’s need is of course a designer and an owner that are decided to make the impossible, possible.
